Developing a regular skincare routine is a must for gals of all ages. The sooner you can start your beauty prep the better results you’ll get. Different beauty rules apply in warmer months and you have to adjust your skincare routine to the current weather. Here’s a really great summer beauty routine to start now.
Summer Beauty Routine for Day and Night
Before selecting a cleanser, you need to know your skin type –oily, dry, combination or acne-prone– and then use that cleanser to wash your face first thing in the morning and again in the evening. After washing your face, dry it gently with a towel and spritz a clarifying lotion to soothe and hydrate your skin.
Moisturize your face every morning and evening. Use higher-end moisturizers and eye creams that have anti-aging properties. For normal or oily skin, a good option is a moisturizer that hydrates, nourishes and helps reduce the appearance of pore size. If you want a moisturizer that does double duty –nourish your skin and sun protection– the Eminence Tropical Vanilla Day Cream SPF 32 is perfect for that. For evening, repair your skin with a good serum that includes growth factors, hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, and peptides.
Warmer weather can take a toll on the delicate skin around your eyes. Focus on selecting an eye cream that has powerful antioxidant, a light texture and helps prevent wrinkles. Follow up with stronger eye serum in the evening.
Apply sunscreen everyday no matter what age you are. Choose one that is at least SPF 30, make sure that it is water resistant and it protects against UVA/UVB rays. For maximum protection, reapply sunscreen every two hours.
Weekly Beauty Prep
Even if you follow all the steps above, without exfoliating you won’t get glowing-looking skin. Normal skin types should exfoliate at least twice a week. Acne-prone skin types should exfoliate more often.
An antioxidant serum should be a staple in your medicine cabinet. I love serums not only because they treat dark spots, fine lines, and wrinkles, but also because they give my skin a healthy glow. Wear it day and night after cleansing and moisturizing for best results.
A few times a week heal cracked lips by hydrating with an at-home solution. A quick way to hydrate your lips is by mixing a little bit of honey and sugar in a small spoon. Just apply a thin layer on your lips and when dry, wipe off with warm water and finish by applying a lip balm.
